Why this retreat

You have been holding everyone else. Come and be held.

This is the gathering at the heart of The Gilded Leaf: the book, the Weekly Steep and the seasonal circles, brought to one long table. We'll steep, write, move, rest and eat well together, at the pace of the season.

A circle of fifteenSmall enough that everyone is known by name. Arrive alone, leave with friends.
Daily tea ritualMorning and evening ceremonies with seasonal blends from my table.
We cook togetherA Did You Eat? cooking class where we make supper side by side, then sit down to share it.

Where we'll stay

A house with a long table

I'm choosing a place with room to breathe: quiet mornings, a kitchen big enough for all of us to cook together, and a table long enough for fifteen. The house itself will be announced to the waitlist first.

Room options, including private rooms, are coming soon.

Bridget Mitchell, your retreat host

Your host

Bridget Mitchell

Founder of The Gilded Leaf and author of The Gilded Leaf: An Emotional Atlas of Herbal Companionship. Before tea, I spent years in social work, sitting with people in their hardest seasons. I'm certified in Turtle Longevity and Soaring Crane Qigong and trained in the kitchen at The Restaurant School, so we'll move, steep and cook together.

I hold a master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. This retreat is ritual, reflection and companionship. It walks alongside your care, never in place of it.

Questions

Can I come on my own?

Yes. Many participants come on their own. The circle is small on purpose so no one is a stranger for long.

Who is this retreat for?

Individuals moving through a change of season: an ending, a loss, an empty nest, or simply a long stretch of caring for everyone but yourself. Many are in their forties to sixties, and every age is welcome.

Do I need any experience with tea, Qigong or meditation?

None at all. Everything is gentle and guided, and every session is an invitation, never a requirement.

What about food allergies and dietary needs?

Every meal, including the supper we cook together, is gluten-free and dairy-free. Tell us about anything else when you book and we'll plan around it.

Do I need to know how to cook?

Not at all. The cooking class is relaxed and hands-on, and everyone has a part. You'll go home with the recipes.

How do I get there?

The location and travel details are coming soon. The waitlist will hear first.

What if I need to cancel?

The full booking and cancellation policy is coming soon. We strongly recommend travel insurance.

Is there free time?

Yes, every day. Rest is part of the plan: nap, read, walk, or sit with a cup and do nothing at all.
